Elections of membership to the Council of Directors are held at the Annual General Meeting of each year. Notices of upcoming elections are announced 90 days before the elections date.

A registrant is eligible for election to the Council if at the date of the election he/she is:

• A registered member in good standing
• Engaged in the practice of Opticianry or, is a resident in Alberta
  

The Term of office is three years. Call for nominations occur from December-February of each year, and the elections are held at Annual General Meeting.
