If a registration form or payment is not received by the AOA by January 1st suspension will result, which means that the registrant is no longer legally able to practice as a Registered Optician (RO) or Registered Contact Lens Practitioner (RCLP). When registering after you've been suspended the Reinstatement fee will be applied.
Members of the public can make sure that an Optician is properly registered with the AOA by contacting the AOA or by verifying that the Optician has displayed their practice permit for the current year at their place of practice.
